Oasis Captions FAQ

Q. Where do you get your pictures?

The pictures we make our captions from are drawn from search engines, image galleries, and Facebook page albums. We also get a lot of material from the Oasis blogs we follow, as well as the Tumblr tags #liam gallagher, #noel gallagher, #beady eye, #pretty green, and #noel gallagher’s high flying birds.

Q. You used a picture I posted! Where’s my credit?

Did you just find it on the internet (i.e. could someone else easily have stumbled upon it and also posted it?) or were you actually there photographing it yourself?

We try to credit gif images when we can only because they take work to extract from videos; in doing so we are merely extending the courtesy of observing this effort, not assuming that the creator of the gif in question owns the actual material.

As for non-moving photos, we unfortunately cannot extend this same courtesy to all Tumblr users because there are simply too many photos. While this is unfortunate for those who scan in photos from magazines or do other editing that is akin to making a gif, we’re afraid it can’t be helped, at this point.

Q. But I did take that photo! I am the photographer!

Well that’s an entirely different animal, isn’t it? Shoot us an e-mail at oasiscaptions@gmail.com with a link to the picture in question and a link to the caption we made with it and we’ll work it out. (Messages don’t take links, so this is the best option.)

Q. I saw someone using one of your pictures without credit! Should I go yell at them?

Nope. And we’re not going to, either. It’s a picture with Impact font on it, for godsakes. If someone wants to desaturate it so it will look more dignified next to a black and white photo of Lana Del Rey on their blog, they’re more than welcome.

Q. Can I have the original version of one of your pictures?

We usually don’t keep originals around once we’ve put words on them, and if we happen to, hell if we’re going to find it again. Just to put things in perspective, our folder of caption material alone has about 6,000 images in it. You see? You see how hard it is? So there’s no way we’re ever going to be able to dig up what you’re requesting. Sorry.

If you’re trying to find a specific caption we’ve done, check in the archive. If you have a question concerning a video source, we usually have no problem answering those.

Q. Will you go hunt down other things for me?

Q. What’s that thing on the sidebar? Why does it hardly ever change?

That’s just for fun. We change it whenever we like. It’s like a surprise. When will it change? We don’t even know!

Q. I submitted a caption, why hasn’t it been posted?

Maybe you should go back and read the submission guidelines. We’ll wait.

Q. I’m angry about Liam and/or Noel. I want to rant about them in your askbox. Is that ok?

No.

Q. Who runs this blog?

We do!
